The Tailgate – 2019 Team Captains Announced by VINA

VINA Community Dental Center annually hosts The Tailgate for the Michigan State vs Michigan football game. In its 11^th year, The Tailgate is a competition to see which fans can raise the most money to help the needy in our community get quality and affordable dental care through VINA.

Although MSU has dominated on the gridiron in those 10 years by a 7-3 margin, their alumni have not been as successful in The Tailgate competition. As a result of The Tailgate 2018, the teams are tied with five wins each, making this year’s competition the tie breaker. VINA is using #VINAbreakthetie for all social media posts and encourages attendees to use the hashtag as well!

Such an important event for pride and bragging rights deserves the best leadership available for both sides. VINA is proud to announce the Team Captains for The Tailgate 2019.

Michigan alumnus Buddy Moorehouse will wear the “C” for his alma mater, while Sheriff Mike Murphy will captain the MSU team.

Moorehouse is a well-known Livingston County author, journalist, comedian and director of communications at the Michigan Association of Public School Academies. Sheriff Mike Murphy has been a pillar of law enforcement and community participation for nearly 3 decades. Both captains are hard at work studying the opposition’s accomplishments, cheerleaders and graduates in preparation for the big event, at which they will serve as the Co-MCs.

The Tailgate will take place on Thursday, November 14, 2019 at 5:30 pm at Crystal Gardens in Howell. All proceeds benefit the VINA Community Dental Center.

The VINA Community Dental Center of Livingston County is a non-profit outreach facility founded in 2008 that provides affordable dental care and quality dental education to Livingston County residents with limited finances. VINA improves quality of life through better oral health, promoting dental care seeking behaviors, and elevating prevention awareness. VINA treats over 1,500 patients annually from their facility at 400 E. Grand River in Brighton.
