About

The University of Michigan School of Dentistry partners with VINA to establish the second Victors for Veterans clinic in the state under the direction of Dr. Howard A. Hamerink. The program provides completely free dental care and education to veterans in need. To qualify, veterans’ income must be at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL) and must reside in one of seven counties: Livingston, Genesee, Shiawassee, Washtenaw, Jackson, Ingham and Oakland.

VINA hosts University of Michigan Dental School students and faculty dentists to provide dental care to veterans twice a month at the clinic. The students and faculty dentists generously donate their time to the program. The program also refers patients to specialists, as needed, for specialty procedures donated by local dental specialists. These local specialists who generously donate their time and services include Dr. Fred Bonine, Ward Dental Lab, Dr. Erika Johnson and Ivoclar Vivadent.

Free services for those registered in the clinic include full exams, extractions and oral surgery, root canals, fillings, dentures, crowns, bridges and more. For more information about the Victors for Veterans program and how to enroll, please see the attached flyer below or call the office.
