VINA is Accepting New Patient Applications for Dental Care
VINA Community Dental Center is accepting applications for new patients at their low cost dental clinic in Brighton.
In order to qualify, you need to be a resident of Livingston County, have limited income (225% or less of the Federal Poverty Level) and have no dental insurance. Appointments for dental care or hygienist visit are only $25.
Applications and Eligibility are available at their website, www.vinadental.org, or visit the clinic at 400 E. Grand River just east of DT Brighton in front of Brighton United Methodist Church.
In 2018, VINA served over 1,300 patients and provided dental services totaling $370,000.
They use volunteer dentists, assistants and hygienists to augment a small part time staff. Appointment wait time, after application approval, is as short as 2 weeks, shorter for emergencies.
VINA Community Dental Clinic was started in 2008 as a low cost alternative for those unable to afford dental care and insurance. In recent years, the percentage of senior patients has increased from 24% in 2015 to 49% in 2018.
VINA depends on their 3 Fundraising Events per year, local and regional grants, support from several area churches and individual donations. They receive no government funding to operate.
Their events include: Annual Spring Gala, March 23rd at Lakelands Golf & CC; VINA Golf Classic, June 24th also at Lakelands; and their signature event…the Michigan – Michigan State Football Tailgate, held the Thursday before the big game, November 14th at Crystal Gardens.
