VINA’s first ever Virtual Tailgate wraps up this week as the rivalry intensifies. The Tailgate typically falls on the Thursday before the Michigan vs. Michigan State football game. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Tailgate went virtual this year over a three-week long period, ending the Friday before the big game.

The Tailgate this year adapted to transition the silent auction all online. Some popular and exciting auction items include a one-week’s stay at a Fort Myers penthouse condo, various high-end wine packages, signed merchandise from Denny McLain and Mickey Stanley, and a Michigan State football with signatures from the 1998 coaching staff.

The Tailgate competition between Michigan and Michigan State fans is for bragging rights, as always. This year, there is an additional incentive for fans in the form of a team canopy outside of the clinic. For COVID-19 safety reasons, VINA staff screen patients before entering the clinic. VINA will purchase a canopy to protect staff, volunteers, and patients from the Michigan weather during the COVID-19 screening process. Whichever team of fans wins the VINA Tailgate will get to see their team’s canopy outside the clinic.

The Virtual Tailgate will continue until October 30, 2020 at 6:00 pm. Tailgaters can purchase sponsorships and bid on items up until this point.
